Georges Vezina is one of the most renowned goaltending names in the history of hockey. His name is perpetuated even in the present day by means of the Vezina Trophy, which is awarded annually to the best NHL goaltender as selected by the hockey writers and broadcasters in the league. Vezina played a remarkable 15 year career with the Montreal Canadiens and never missed a single regular season or playoff game during that entire period. Georges played on 5 league champion teams and Stanley Cup Champions in both 1916 and 1924. His final game was on November 28, 1925, when he had to leave after one period due to severe chest pains. This was the result of an onset of tuberculosis, from which he died four months later.
