Elevate your hockey memorabilia collection with the Lord Stanley of Preston Collectors Card Print!

Lord Stanley Preston was Governor-General of Canada from 1888-1893. During his final year in office he donated a trophy to be awarded to the championship hockey team in Canada. Originally, the Stanley Cup was a bowl costing ten guineas, equivalent to about $50.00 at that time. It traveled many miles from 1893 to 1906, when only amateur clubs played for the Cup. It was then passed on to the National Hockey Association in 1910. From there it became the championship trophy of the Western Canada League until 1926 when that league disbanded and the National Hockey League was formed. Since then, only NHL teams have competed for it. Over the years, the Cup has gone through many changes and embellishments to become the prize it is today. Standing just under three feet tall and made of sterling silver, it has the names of some of the greatest players to ever play the game of hockey inscribed on it. It is also the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes in North America. The Stanley Cup is the symbol of professional hockey supremacy.

Celebrate Lord Stanley's career with a print of his HHOF collector card! The 12” x 16” poster is printed on a textured archival paper and comes in a cardboard tube, making it easily transportable. The piece is perfect as a solo item, or to fill an empty frame.
